Roundtable: Unschooling our neurodivergent children
With: Iris Wong, Makeba Garraway, Heidi Steel and Stacey Yates Sellar
Many families find that unschooling is a great fit for their neurodivergent child. Our panellists will talk about their experiences of how unschooling their children looks and some of the things they've learned.

Meet our panellists
Iris Wong
Iris is late-diagnosed AuDHD and parent to two neurodivergent children, one of whom is an unschooler. She is a child of parents who immigrated from Taiwan to the US, and currently resides in California. Iris came from the world of public school, but now explores how to be a boundary-pushing speech therapist and advocate of playful executive functioning, which she writes about in A Kid's Book About Executive Functioning.
Makeba Garraway
Makeba (she/her) is a mother to two always-unschooled children aged 12 and 9. Originally from the UK, her neurodivergent family moved to California in 2019 and now live on Ohlone land in the Bay Area. Her career journey so far has led from medicine to student mental health, and is now leading towards death work. Makeba enjoys singing in two choirs, being creative, and spending time with her two dogs.
Heidi Steel
Heidi lives in the UK and has four children who have always been unschooled. Heidi was a primary school teacher and now runs the Live, Play, Learn, an organisation that provides resources and community for unschooling families.
Stacey Yates Sellar
Stacey is based in Scotland and California, and is a Dr Shefali-trained & certified Conscious Parenting Coach. She is also an unschooling mother of two and author of the book Conscious Parenting Your ADHD Child.
